Whether playing contemporary compositions, classical orchestral works, musical theater, coaching students, or conducting a full orchestra, Lucian Rinando has performed professionally for over 40 years. He began his formal training while earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at Duquesne University as a pupil of Bernard Z. Goldberg, former Principal Flutist of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Following that degree, Mr. Rinando moved to New York, NY, and developed a creative sensibility for music-making by collaborating with many extraordinary musicians there. He performed his Carnegie Hall debut with the Elysian Trio as winners of the Artist International Award in 2000. He performed in orchestras and chamber music concerts in New York City and the metro area, collaborated with musicians from the MET Orchestra, was a Broadway musician, and performed as principal flute with the Garden State Philharmonic for 19 seasons just to mention a few. All of this culminated in a lifetime of knowledge of the repertoire, performance technique, and mastering technical aspects of flute playing including the care, maintenance, and complete service as a technician. He apprenticed with Master Technician, Anne Pollack at Your Flute Works from 2004-2009. Lucian Rinando continues to perform with his trio, Sono Auros and is currently on the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Community School.
